Position Title Part-Time Assistant Women’s & Men’s Golf Coach
Assist the Head Coach in the planning, organization and administration of the men’s and women’s college golf programs.
• Adhere to all NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines, policies, and rules
• Demonstrate leadership and professional behavior when dealing with student-athletes
• Maintain positive constructive working relationships with student-athletes, athletics department coaches and staff, and all members of the College community
• At all times promote the Men’s and Women’s Golf program in a positive way
• Recruiting (10%)
o ACS software usage to submit and update recruit information
o Corresponding via mailings, phone calls, text messaging and emails
o Scheduling and setting up recruit visits
o Attending off campus recruiting events
o Working with admissions office to recruit student athletes
• Golf Team Coaching & Education (45%)
o Practice planning and on-the-course coaching
o Individual & small group coaching sessions
o Oversee academic, moral, ethical and athletic development of the student-athletes – personal & team meetings
o Match preparation team meetings
o Game day meetings, coaching, post-game debrief
o Team film sessions & meetings
o Participation in community service events
• Golf Team Administration (45%)
o Supervise team during away contests
o Participate in fund-raising activities
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Golf knowledge required and playing experience desired.
Competencies / Skills
Ability to demonstrate golf related skills, interpersonal skills between students, staff, alumni and friends of the college.
Supervision of Employees
Physical and Mental Demands
Must be able to demonstrate golf related techniques. The job entails normal sitting, standing and walking throughout the course of the day.
Must be able to work in loud environments and keep mental concentration associated with events. Maintain professional attitude and demeanor in difficult situations. Position must have ability to multi-task in a very busy environment.
Well lighted, well ventilated pleasant work area. Work with students and accompany team when traveling.
Equipment to be Used
Equipment related to sport. comfort and ability using microsoft products (word, excel, etc) and the ability to learn and use the ACS Athletics (now Frontrush) software system to communicate and track recruits as well as roster management and communication with current student athletes .
Varies depending on time of year (in-season or out of season). Flexibility needed and ability to work nights and weekends to cover practice and tournaments.
